Can anyone recommend someone who diagnoses autism in women - preferably who will accept right to choose patients

My GP is happy to put me forward for an autism assessment based on my AQ50 results and family history. I would really like to see someone under the Right To Choose scheme (NHS), I’m in the South East, unfortunately the Lorna Wing Centre does not accept referrals under that scheme. I don’t want to see just any psychiatrist, I’m nearly 50yrs old, I’m a pretty damn good masker, I want to see someone who specialises in women. I know to expect a very long wait! Thanks.

Choose Axia! They are considered the Gold standard. They assessed me on the right to choose and in my experience, were the gold standard.

Assessed at 47 by the way. Was on their waiting list for 5 months

I was diagnosed at the Lorna Wing Centre as a private patient. If you can afford to any way I'd recommend doing it there. I had the same feelings as you about other centres not being suitable.

Thanks very much both of you. I would absolutely love to go to the Lorna Wing Centre but it’s just too much money to spend on me 😓
I’m going to look up Axia now!

Go on YouTube and look for Sarah Hendrikx, she specialises in women and girls on the autism spectrum, and works for axia too. She wrote a book on it too! Highly recommended

Another vote for Clinical Partners, didn't have to wait as long as I was expecting either
