After waiting years for an assessment, I'm happy to say I've an appointment soon.
How did a diagnosis change your life? From medication, to specific therapy to even the diagnosis itself?

Well done got getting an appointment. I've filled in my assessment forms today for ADHD.

@TinyMouseTheatre Good luck to you also on your journey. I've been waiting 3 years for this and actually cried when I received appointment date. Maybe my life will change and everything won't be such a god damn struggle.

I can understand why you cried. I totally get that.

I had a bit of a crumble when the GP said that she wasn't going to refer me because I hadn't been sacked in the last 10 years.

@TinyMouseTheatre how awful. Keep pushing it. I had to keep pushing for 3 years! Get a different GP asap!!

I did Right to Choose and have an assessment in February, only 6 months from my initial GP appt. Without RTC it would have been 7 years!
The forms were difficult, I am not in touch with anyone who knew me as a child, and my mum can't remember anything odd about it (despite my obsession with books and the Sound of Music/Annie/Mary Poppins/Countdown early morning TV watching to self regulate).

I think that's where I'm going to struggle. My DF has died, my DM has Dementia and my only Sibling is nearly 6 years younger than me. I've asked her though but she's pretty sure she has ADHD too so it might not go to plan Grin

@whatisforteamum not sure if you were asking OP or me, but I had my assessments and now have a diagnosis of Autism. I have significant ADHD traits but can’t get that diagnosed because of the lack of childhood reporting, but either way I now have access to resources to help me find out about how to stop masking and get my energy back.
