best ADHD right to choose provider?

I’m being referred for an ADHD assessment. I have been referred to psychiatry UK through the right to choose programme which I haven’t heard anything bad about besides the fact it has about a 2 year wait list. I’ve requested to change providers as I can’t wait that long and have been asked what I want to change to. I don’t know which one to pick? I’ve read some negative things about a lot of the alternative providers ranging from bad communication, not providing meds etc to GP surgery’s not accepting their diagnosis/ meaning you have to pay for meds if required?
Any experiences you can share from any of the providers would be hugely appreciated. It just seems mad that the psych UK waitlist is 2x longer than the 2nd longest provider.

Harrow Health is meant to have short wait times at the moment (or did as of a few weeks ago!) I've not heard anything negative about them, but equally haven't used them myself

I'm actually too upset to go into it but had an absolutely horrific experience with ADHD360, lost about £1k through it as paid for their scheme. Seriously don't touch them with a barge pole.

They also sent a report to my GP which must have been either totally fabricated or someone else's report as it said I said things in the assessment (i.e "was always a problem child who was disruptive in school", "says she has friends but is very out of sight out of mind", "struggles with house work and is unable to maintain a clean living space") which weren't true and weren't an accurate description of me at all. I was a model pupil, very quiet, teacher's pet type and am quite popular with close, meaningful friends that I'm in touch with most days and I hate mess or dirt...I couldn't live in a dirty, disorganised living space.

They also diagnosed me incorrectly and the medication made me very ill.

At the moment the NICE guidelines say any healthcare professional with suitable training and expertise can assess for ADHD, and it doesn't specify what training they need. So companies like ADHD 360 are doing it on the cheap and employing pharmacists among other things, as thats cheaper than a psychiatrist or ADHD specialist nurse. So whichever you go with, check the qualifications of whoever is doing your assessment.

I think at the minute there are 2 providers that will medicated if your GP turns down shared care- which, let's face it, they will do. This is copied and pasted from a FB Group I am in Adult ADHD and Autism Diagnosis- Right to Choose Support (England):

RTC providers and information for Autism and ADHD assessments for adults.

We update this list regularly as we learn new info about providers and info. Last updated 8th Sept.

Have a read through the providers websites and it will tell you what is required for a referral to them. Many have template letters you can use, ADHDUK website also has a generic template - link at bottom of this post

**Please note - their referral form states they are not commissioned to provide annual medication reviews so I would recommend finding out what happens with these in your area. Some areas don’t even have an ADHD service so if that’s the case then I wouldn’t recommend going with this provider or you could find yourself without any medication if you have no service to conduct the reviews.
