Autism and housework

Hey team! I'm autistic and I really struggle with housework. Has anyone got a checklist or a routine that works for them?

Thanks!

Have you come across KC Davis' "How To Keep House While Drowning" ? This resonates well with a lot of ND people.

What is it you are struggling with in particular?

I didn't improve on housework until I timed myself doing it (things like cleaning the bathroom, vacuuming the floors) and I realised it wasn't taking me as long as I thought it was. I now also listen to music or a podcast while I work so it's not so boring.
I also always do things in the same order (the most efficient for me). I used to use a checklist to make sure I did things in the "right" order but I just know it now. I'm in my forties though, it's taken a long time to work out!

I've found the organised mum method is good for making sure each area gets cleaned occasionally. I'm not brilliant at sticking to it but might occasionally thing oh it's Thursday, maybe I should spend half an hour doing the kitchen.

Listening to music or a podcast as the PP suggested helps too Wink

On Etsy they have printable cleaning checklists, they are really good.

I've started stacking cleaning with other things. I actually clean the shower and bath while I'm in it I.e. having a shower now, works a treat as I hate that job!
