Too scared to take adhd medication

I was diagnosed with autism a few months ago and then ADHD after I was referred by the same team. I was diagnosed and prescribed meds in the same meeting. After reading up about them I got really scared particularly as I’m in my 50s with family history of glaucoma. ADHD doctor is giving me a couple of months to mull it over but I just don’t know what to do.

I have just started on a low dose and not much has happened.

the lady said that we would be taking it very slowly to see how I go. Upping the dose every three weeks if needed while keeping an eye on my blood pressure.

I too was nervous, but every body is unique so couldn’t really listen to other people’s experiences to know how I would go.

the way I figured it was that I could only go up. If it didn’t work, I would go off it and no harm no fowl.

but it could really really aid me so I wanted to at least give it a go, to see how much of a difference it could make.

I was terrified, especially as there are some
BP/heart issues in the family. I’m 44 and so glad I went for it.
Like Pp said, slow and steady increase was the way to go - but decision is obviously a very personal one.

You could take them on a trial basis and stop if you don't like them.

I love mine. I get a bit of peace from my brain.
