PIP

Does anybody have experience of receiving PIP for themselves with an ASD diagnosis along with depression and anxiety. I receive the support group level of employment and support allowance but after my PIP assessment I was turned down.

They noted all the things I said and then said they thought I could do the things I said I struggled with. I feel like they are calling me a liar. Is it worth appealing? I can barely leave the house because of anxiety. My medication is only given to me 7 days at a time in case I overdose. I feel overwhelmed by everything. I was just starting to improve recently and felt strong enough to take a bus journey to visit a friend for the first time in a year. I’ve just started doing an online course 10 hours a week to help build up to possibly going back into a job. But this has really knocked me back. I feel like any small improvement is seen as me being capable all time.

Yes, please appeal.
I have both conditions and get PIP, daily living. Not mobility though.
I've had a history of anxiety and school refusal and mental health notes from the age of around 7 that I supplied with my claim.

I didn't have notes from friends and family but if I did I would have included that, and also I know for next reassessment I now keep a daily diary of where I am and details of when I have panic attacks and other mental health crises etc.

For years I thought I deserved to stay indoors only; I now go on a few holidays (scandalous, I know) as I realised that if I can just about manage the travel with the aid of diazepam etc, I'm better anxiety wise in quiet places abroad out of tourist season etc (in winter as I get extreme SAD) so I hope you will eventually feel able to actually enjoy times and activities when you're able to 🤗

it was still very difficult & I went through hell feeling complete imposter syndrome with a crisis in my mental health as a result so my total sympathies to you chicken.

Is anyone/organisation/s supporting you with the claim?

Just in case you don't have these resources-

I've used the CAB who filled in the forms for me the first time.

And this info;
https://www.mentalhealthandmoneyadvice.org/en/welfare-benefits/pip-mental-health-guide/help-with-your-pip-claim/supporting-evidence-for-a-pip-claim/

And more targeted almost individualised support via membership

https://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/

And also I've heard this team are great and it's membership to get proper individualised support

I can't get back on here until next week but put a reply here when you get a chance and let us know where you're at?

Take good care.
