Hello ,
I'm pretty sure my little girl (oops 13 year old ) has autism , everything since birth just adds up.She is an excellent masker but we are having trouble dealing with her anger and emotions amongst other things. Please what is the first point of help, is it a doctors appointment? And what should I expect?
TIA : ) x

For what it's worth, from the perspective of somebody who was an undiagnosed autistic teen...it's reasonably likely that the "excellent masking" is contributing heavily to the anger and outbursts; that's a fairly well-known mechanism in the autistic community, whereby the exhaustion and frustration of constantly masking takes its toll and eventually you just can't do it any more, so...explosion. Look up the Coke bottle analogy for a more NT-friendly explanation of it :)

GP.
Write a list: 3 parts:
Sensory issues. (Under/over sensitive)
Routine. (Specific ways of doing stuff)
Social communication.

Plus why a diagnosis would be helpful.

Go on a parenting course. (They like to make you do those first so if you've done one and xyz strategies don't work it's helpful to eliminate a step)

Don't delay, waiting lists are v long.
