Hey, I very stupidly stopped taking my Elvanse over Christmas to be able to have a couple of drinks, and to catch up on quality sleep. Within a few days I'd 'reversed' my body clock and was staying up until 3/4am then sleeping though the day (my natural state pre- ADHD meds) When I tried to restart my Elvanse it had a horrible effect on me as due to it having gone out of my system the dose I was on is now too high. I've had a couple of months of spending most of my time sleeping by day/watching trash tv by night and feeling like a zombie, then finally got myself to the doctor last week to ask them to prescribe a lower dose so that I can titrate back up. They have refused as they don't know anything about the medication! (They took over prescribing from PsychiatryUK last year, I was assessed and diagnosed by them through right to choose) So I contacted PUK today, but as I've been discharged they can't help me without my being referred by GP, and then there'll be a wait of minimum 6 months. Phoned GP, who have just come back to me to say that I have to go to the practice to complete some forms in order for them to refer me. I can barely leave the house at the moment, but I'm hoping to be able to force myself to go tomorrow. I have a horrible feeling that this means that I'll be starting from the beginning again, so waiting at least a year to speak to a psychiatrist, then another 6 month minimum for titration. How is this a sensible way to do things?! Purely to get me back on to a drug that was working miracles for me (and I had no problems with other than sleep issues) and that I literally just need a lower strength version of temporarily?
Sorry this is so long, I'm so distressed and I'm really hoping that someone can help with a quicker way to get back on to my meds?! I know it's unlikely, especially with the fact that during all this I haven't been able to run my business so literally don't have a penny coming in other than the lowest rate of pip.
