I don't know what pain is

I have no idea how to measure pain.

I've undergone a root canal with no anaesthetic, cycled to A&E with a broken hand, was diagnosed with Stage IV endo and had no clue about it...

I've weirdly been 'praised' by medics for my high pain threshold, but I'm getting increasingly worried about it because I don't know the difference between 'normal' pain and 'I might be dying but I can't tell'.

Anybody else?

I see threads on MN all the time about people being in agony etc with things that I would just shrug off (that's not a stealth boast or anything, btw, it's just my normal).

For example, I'm at the finishing line of a pretty unpleasant cold I picked up last week and I'm coughing a lot, but I assume the cough will go away, as it mostly always does.

Am I right, or should I be concerned about pleurisy or something? I don't know what to think.

I gave birth to my first child in total silence. The midwives were amazed. The second two were induction so hurt a lot more but the natural birth didn't hurt. I took no pain relief.

I'm quick to go to the doctors though. Not due to things hurting but I have bad health anxiety.

Yes, your cough should just go.
I'd Google how long you should wait if it doesn't. I think it's a few weeks.
