Stepping stones triple P course

In our area you have to complete the triple p course as part of the diagnosis process for your child. Apparently it's supposed to be for families of children who have disabilities and supposedly gives you behavioural strategies. The course leaders and my sons head teacher reckon it's an excellent course.

I had a zoom session of it tonight and came across this section in the workbook.
Is it just me or are they trying to say that we are rewarding our children by helping them navigate sensory issues?

The underlined bits made me feel very uncomfortable.

It comes under a section called:
Accidental rewards for misbehaviour..

For example, my son will scream to block out the sound of an ambulance passing. Am I giving a "reward" for "accidental misbehaviour" by helping him cover his ears so he doesn't need to scream?

Triple P is excellent for neurotypical children.

I think its dreadful that it is seen as a good strategy for neurodiverse children.

This is the triple P "stepping stones" course which is supposedly adapted for disabled children including those with learning disabilities, down syndrome, autism and ADHD.

I'm dreading the rest of the course to be honest.
