Methylphenidate

Hello! I'm just coming to the end of my second week on Methylphenidate and would absolutely love some travel companions! It's all a bit overwhelming in terms of the noticeable benefits fighting against the crappy side effects. It's almost like it's helping with my ADHD whilst also having random episodes of bringing out the absolute worst of my ADHD/personality! Can anyone relate?

Is it making you more aggressive? If so definitely let your psych know as they may adjust dose.

Yes, it has helped me organise everything from my thoughts to my workloads to my physical surroundings. It has stopped me snacking and the weight loss is a definite plus. Anxiety was increasing on it, but TBH I've always been anxious and have CPTSD and am perimenopausal, and the meds helped me see situations for what they really were, so vicious circle in a way.

I didn't want any anti-anxiety meds in case they interfered with my Equasym XL, but a couple of recent sessions of hypnotherapy are dialling down my anxiety in a big way. Perhaps a bit of a drastic solution but it's working for me where other things didn't, and I can continue on my meds.

No, not more aggressive I'm pleased to say. Had a really horrendous episode of paranoia last week, for the first time in years, which was a bit scary but luckily my rational side fought its way to the top after a few hours of nasty thoughts. I've felt better more often in the last few days. Should've doubled my dose yesterday but pysch advised to delay for a week which I was glad to do. I'm sleeping much better than I was and definitely less impulsive. Snacking has virtually stopped for me too, which is excellent.

Yes, it's a lot to manage, I'm perimenopausal too so also on hrt. Hoping to somehow miraculously find the magic balance between meds, getting through this period of side effects to hopefully just even out and cope with daily life in some kind of organised manner!
