Is anyone interested in a thread about their experiences of ADHD meds?

I'm on 54mg of xaggitin, started in December and only used to take it a few days a week (i work part time).

Recently upped to every day and I'm amazing at the effect it's had on my emotional stability, no more mood swings or deep lows. Been able to give up alcohol altogether which I've always struggled to do. I'm guessing the increased dopamine from the meds has helped with this.

I was on methylphenidate, but couldn't stay on it due to severe palpitations and feeling like I was going to have a heart attack. I was meant to go onto atomoxetine, but I couldn't afford it so gave up at that point. No chance of help from the NHS so currently unmedicated.

Oh no I'm really sorry to hear that, it sounds like you went private so would you have had to pay to try other meds on titration?

Yeah, that was the thing. £15 for the private script then over £85 for the atomoxetine 🤦‍♀️ I had to quit my job due to depression so had no money.

I've not come across xaggitin. I'm glad it's helping you. They're putting me onto venlafaxine next week for major depression and I have to speak to the mental health nurse at the surgery. I'm hoping she might get on to the adhd clinic and lobby them to put me onto proper adhd meds. They accepted my adult son's private diagnosis, but he had to fight for the NHS to take him on after I couldn't afford his meds any longer. The NHS are fkrs 🤬

Gosh that's so awful, I'm sorry. I was lucky in that although my diagnosis was from a private organisation outside the NHS it was via right to choose so I have had no issues with shared care.

Xaggitin is just Ritalin as far as I'm aware I think I've been lucky with it.
