Has anyone used this service, it seems to be half the cost of other assessment services?

I've found another service that seems to do home visits that would be helpful, but it's twice the price.

I haven't used them but I have looked into them, and there seemed to be a lot of potential add-on fees - e.g if your consultation overruns the allotted time you are charged £6 per extra minute. That would stress me out - I would be looking at the clock the whole time.

Yes, I used them for my adhd assessment. It was fine, but I couldn't afford the atomoxetine that she ended up prescribing after I found I can't tolerate methylphenidate.

Ds1 used them as well and had to argue to get the local mental health service to accept the diagnosis, even though Psychiatry UK use NHS clinicians and offer services on the NHS 🙄 He was eventually seen and treated, but I couldn't face the fight so had to give up.

You can use NHS right to choose with psychiatry uk amongst others.

Thanks everyone. That does sound stressful. Not being able to get their report validated by the NHS is one of my worries around getting the assessment.

Well, ds just argued that it was conducted by an NHS clinician and they couldn't really say much back to that, so he got his meds. Our area is particularly bad regarding neurodiversity though. Yours might well be more enlightened.

I've just had an email back, and they don't use the gold standard (ADOS), just generic questionnaires. They also said that they might recommend a face to face assessment, so to me it seems that going for face to face straight away is good.

I thought ados was for autism assessment. Also, if adhd is diagnosed by a consultant psychiatrist nothing else is needed and it's a valid diagnosis which the NHS have to accept. Whether or not they agree to share care and provide medication is another thing, but the diagnosis still stands.

It was autism that I wanted to find out about from them. I've gone with someone that does home visits in the end.
