Do you have a "safe" outfit?

There are frequent posts on mumsnet of ND children who will only wear certain clothing so I was wondering if others have a outfit that you wear on the days when everything is too much, you are stressed and its sensory hell.

I do, mine is a really old pair of black leggings where the stretch isn't that good any more. A tunic top which has pockets and a round neck that isn't too high and 3 quarter sleeves, my molke bra so I don't feel boob on skin but I also don't feel bra, my size 18 M&S knickers that reach my belly button (I'm a 14) and preferably no socks or shoes, but if I have to go out I have some wide walking sandals that are very comfortable.

My hair would be scraped back so none is in my face, the front bits clipped to ensure no bits can escape in the wind. No makeup.

I do wear other clothes but on my worst days, I wear this for maximum comfort. Trying on anything else means it gets ripped off straight away in horror.

yes: always wear big knickers anyway, wire free bra or vest with support, loose top socks(the ones they sell for diabetics) as they are most comfortable, and one of four pairs of ancient M&S cotton lycra jogging trousers plus a long-sleeve or short sleeve t-shirt - sometimes a short-sleeve baggy one over a long sleeve.

Hair twisted up in a clip thingy

Frankly, they probably look like pyjamas by any other name, but I am at my most comfortable.😃

Not an outfit, but I've worn the same brand and style of shoe for nearly 20 years. I buy new ones every year or two, and sometimes get a different colour, but always the same shape.

I have 10 pairs of the same trousers from Marks and Sparks does that count?

linerforlife · 22/04/2022 13:48

Yes. Black sinophant leggings that are really soft, black longline vest from primark and a soft cardigan. I like close fitting (but not tight) very soft clothing when stressed. I wear the leggings and vest combo nearly every day with a work top over as I WFH, it's been a benefit of covid

@AchillesPoirot absolutely!

I wear mens boxers, basketball shorts, bra with no underwire and big soft hoodies. I wear this pretty much everyday unless I need to venture into public (rare!) it's my standard outfit and definetly my safe one, makes me feel calm and comfortable, also all tags removed! Also in winter I have a soft knitted hat I made and that makes an appearance it covers my ears which I like and keeps my hair out of my face.

I like stretchy trousers, a loose fitting tunic top and no socks. I wear my hair down, but up in a clip if I'm too hot. I wear the same style all the time. I would like to get a dress though because they're cool in the summer. I'm an apple shape and worry about ending up looking like a potato sack. I have to wear a specific type of trainer because I have a dodgy foot and orthotics. It has a rocker sole as I can't walk in ordinary flat shoes.

Do you buy them all at once?

AchillesPoirot · 23/04/2022 22:18

I buy loads at the same time - I bought 3 black and two navy and then when they were wearing out and I wanted some new ones I had to buy one single pair of the new version just to see if they were still ok for me. Then I bought 4 more black and 5 navy. And I just bought the same ones in khaki with a stripe down them. I basically live in them.
