Reading books on device vs paper copies

I've got a Kindle app and have downloaded a few books over the past couple of years. I'm not good at reading due to my adhd and my concentration is difficult to sustain.

When I'm reading a book on my device it's just not registering in my brain. I'm having to read the same page over a couple of times and the page jumps if my thumb accidentally touches the screen 🙄

I've started a new book yesterday and I'm not even sure if I've already read it. It seems familiar, but new at the same time. I just don't know. I can deal easily with hard copies though.

Anybody else find this?

Real books only here.

My OH has a Kindle but I have to remind her every Christmas to NOT buy me one as a pressie as I just don't want one!

On the train I notice that more people are now reading books again, a few years ago I was the only one in the carriage with a real one but there are a few of us now.

e-books are real books though

I get what you mean about the words gliding through your brain with eBooks

but..but…

im dyslexic (autocucumber wants that to be ‘dysfunctional‘. Make of that what you will) and I find being able to flip through fonts, backlighting options and text sizes so helpful. I’ve had to give up on some treebooks because I can’t get on with the font, or, (worse) I get on with the font one day, but not the next.

i can also switch from iPad to kindle depending on how cooperative Brain is being that day.

the weight of a kindle vs a treebook is also a factor. I have some nerve damage, which makes my fingers hurt when I’m holding on to stuff. I have a popsocket on my kindle so I don’t even have to grip it. It’s fab.

I’m lusting after a page turner thingy though.

I have a Kindle paperwhite. Some friends bought it for me. Since that I can read while feeding a baby/toddler, which is a gamechanger. I like reading real books, but I need to remember to have it with me. So I end up using the app on my phone a lot. It's OK but I do get easily distracted.
