Practical help with stressful situation

Hi - I am massively overthinking this which is very me. (Dx asd and ocd). I’ve agreed to post somethings I was selling (action figures for a game) and there are about 60. I didn’t think through (processing) so have agreed numerous times to send them by post. My issue is wrapping them - they are easily damaged if they bump together, weighing them, and posting them and organising payment. I feel like I e massively committed because the person kept messaging and I was too polite / stressed to realise this would be so difficult.
I literally can’t now message to say it’s not going to happen, there’s been too much messaging. How can I do this? In a practical way?

I think lots of bubble wrap. The post office might be helpful with finding you the right envelope(s) and sorting the postage.

I would be stressed too - last time I had to send a parcel I cried and DH had to take over.

Bubble wrap and an Amazon box.

What I would do is get a big box. Line the bottom and sides with bubble wrap (you can buy rolls in Poundland)

Then cut the bubble wrap into sheets.

Lay the figures down in the box with space between for 1.5 figures.

Then put another sheet of bubble wrap on top. Lay the next layer of figures in between the previous ones so they fit snugly in the depressions.

Then another layer and put the third layer of figures over the spaces where the first layer is lying.

Keep doing this and put two or three layers of bubble wrap on top.

Tape box.

Measure the box and weigh it to calculate postage/courier costs.

You have absolutely got this. Just take it a step at a time - get box. But bubble wrap and sellotape.

I would get stuck too (much better at writing this list than doing stuff like this) visualising g the process helps.

Thank you so much. I’m really overwhelmed. The person kept messaging all weekend and I’ve ended up not processing it quickly enough and agreeing when I should have realised it was too much trouble for pennies. Then more people keep messaging several times and offering to pay more when I say they are gone.
I’m a bit stuck. I think bubble wrap is a good idea. I just wish I’d said no but I’ve got involved in these really long messages where the person was planning to take a train and was really pushy.

How did it go @ENoeuf

LadyCordeliaFitzgerald · 10/03/2022 18:29

Did you manage it yet? If not, would it help to post photos here so we can cheer you on a bit?

ENoeuf · 11/03/2022 08:07

@PeacefulPrune thank you. So I did a very brave thing with the encouragement of my adult child and messaged to say I couldn’t send all of them because they would break/ be too many.
I did a shoebox with bubble wrap like everyone said. Took up a lot of time as I kept rewrapping and arranging and then went to the post office. It’s weird because I couldn’t get the order of doing things right, like how much it would be, checking that was ok, then paying and sending. DD couldn’t understand my stress but at least she helped.
I’m not going to sell anything online again - all the messages were stressful because people kept posting to ask if they’d gone / offering to pay more/ messaging again to check if they’d been collected and they would come now etc.
