Dyspraxia/DCD. Does anyone use a walking stick?

And if so, how limited is your mobility/balance/etc?

Not that what others do should guide my judgment, but I can't decide whether I need one or not

Just saw your other post so bumping this for you. Had no idea this topic existed!!

I'm dyspraxic. I'm worse when I am tired / stressed. Most of my bad falls have happened then.

Why do you think you need one out of interest?

Thanks for the bump. In response to your question: it feels as though progressively less tiredness or stress is making me even more wobbly and clumsy, and my always-bad walking is getting more and more uneven. And then, pain. Putting too much weight on my legs hurts

Ahh I see.

Unrelated but I had an incredible amount of pain in my legs 10 years or so ago in my early 20s. Even my feet felt like I was walking on glass. I cut out gluten (not because of that) and the pain was the first thing to go.

My understanding is that a lot of neurodiverse conditions can be co-morbid with allergies/intolerances - dairy, gluten possibly soya

Like pp my walking and general mobility is much worse when tired or stressed
Also if I am somewhere different my mobility goes a bit bad as well and everything is much harder (I am dyspraxia and autistic)
I found getting core strength a lot stronger by attending inclusive gym classes has really helped me over the years and I not fall over as often now
Sorry I cannot answer you question about stick I have never tried that would be too difficult for me having something else involved

No but there are times I should, I believe Confused - normally covered in bruises anyway, but I got up and went into the bathroom this morning and missed the doorframe and fell over - ouch!

Now bruised from shoulders to calf down my left-hand side and my knee is wobblier than usual.

I had several falls after having a stroke four years ago as it affected my balance, but thought I'd got better again.
