Panicking and getting angry when things malfunction

Does anyone else go into a complete panic if something such as tech or an appliance malfunctions in some way?

We've just had an issue with the TV remote - we have a spare one - but the problem sent me into a spin. I was trying to follow online instructions to reset it and snapping 'LEAVE IT! LEAVE IT' at my poor DH whenever he was trying to help, and then when I was waiting 5 minutes for the TV to reset, pacing round the house and muttering to myself.

I've now sourced two possible replacements and am trying to stop myself ordering about 5 more spares, in case the spare we are now using breaks.

It really throws me if something isn't working - it's like a huge wrinkle that I can't rest until it's ironed out.

I've calmed down now but I'm left with a splitting headache.

Anyone else?

I can totally relate to this!

It's so draining Sad

Yep, everything seems to go bright and I panic.
The same happens if I cannot find something.

Oh, yes, ofwarren - it hadn't struck me but it's exactly the same panic as when I can't find anything and you're right, things do go bright and almost seem to move at high speed.

And as Clarice says, afterwards I'm wiped out.

Yes, stresses me out to the point where my heart rate goes mad and I hate myself for being so angry. But my anger is always directed at myself for (apparently) being so useless. Exactly the same as the total panic of not being able to find something. I can't blame anyone else as I'm the only adult in my house, but I tidy things away (and congratulate myself for it) then get really really angry about not knowing where I put it.

I'm very hard on myself and call myself awful names daily.

Yes, I break stuff either out of frustration or anger 🤦‍♀️

Dh is patience personified, so I just yell for him and he sorts it bless him. I'm having some success with the regime of supplements that I take so have been better lately.

Well, my fix worked and the remote was functioning again this morning. But I'd got fixated on getting another spare so I sent DH out to buy a 'one for all' from Argos and I've just spent a very happy half-hour programming macros into it. The counter-balance to my frustration when tech breaks down is that I absolutely love setting up a piece of new tech. I've always been the household 'tech helpdesk' ever since my parents got their first VCR in the 80s and I happily settled down to read the manual from cover to cover Grin.
