Just curious what everyone else does here are list of mine....

  1. headphones I use these loads, I have 3 sets for different uses... Large over ears noise cancelling ones for when I need to block things out and focus and feel overwhelmed and want people to think twice before disturbing me. Second set soft bedtime ones I can sleep in as I like to go to sleep to podcasts or something to block out the noise in my head/overthinking. And thirdly subtle in ear ones for when I need to block out noise but don't want to come across rude.

  2. Sleeping bag, when I am very overwhelmed and feel like my brain will pop from the pressure I get in my sleeping bag and like to feel cacooned.

  3. similar to 2 when overwhelmed hit shower or bath or under heated blanket.

4)I nearly constantly fiddle with a pen top or bit of blutac or tissue when in any form of work meeting. I do it subtlety though.

I put my headphones on in the house to block out noise.

I go to bed very early where it's dark and quiet and I can be alone.

I find doing crochet soothes and calms me.

I have no noise on in the house.

I looked at the chew toys as I have a habit of chewing, but I'm a really hard biter and would possibly destroy them as I do pencils. Can no longer use gum as I get reflux.

My earplugs, I love them. have ordered some foam bud bits so they will be more comfortable to sleep in.

My bed I can hide in when things get too much.

I'm no good at forming sentences today so here's a list.

Weighted blanket
Fidget spinner
Squeezy banana
Headphones
Sunglasses
Cats
Watching ASMR
Compression
Hanging upside down off the bed
Smelling things, especially cats
Stimming including hand twirling, foot twirling, finger rubbing, teeth clenching, moving my arms in a rhythm, rocking, swaying, rubbing my hand hard down my face, hair twirling

I completely empathise with the not forming sentences today! This post has suffered a lot of rewrites

Also smelling things for me.

Not ASMR noises though, that's the kind of noise that hurts me on the inside. For example the baby is sleeping and has a very snotty snore right now and it's definitely the reason this post has taken so long to write.

Headphones
Woolly soft hat
Comfy clothes
My bed
Cuddling the dog

Pain is one of mine - I hope it’s ok to say that. Biting my lip, digging fingernails into my hand. I’m very conscious about it tipping over into self harm so I’m careful and intentional about it.

Bed.

Bath. I used to go right under the water with just my nose out. Can’t bear water in my ears anymore though.

Morse code toes

Stroking the cat

Smell of fresh lavender or furze in bloom. Has to be fresh though- there’s no substitute.

I have a big chunky wool blanket to curl up under. Also weighted blankets are nice.

A real fire is superb. Obviously not an option anymore for environmental reasons but that gives me an almost primal sense of safety.

Headphones
Cats
Tight leggings
Blu Tac
An enormous squishy beanbag
