What would a ND only world look like?

ofwarren · 29/01/2022 21:21

I sometimes wonder what the world would be like if ND people were the majority. Do you think there would be more or less conflict? More or less poverty and injustice?

I think the way the world works would be vastly different in every possible way.

What do you think?

Imagine living somewhere you'd never have to hear Cardi B again 🥰

Or make small talk about what you did last Saturday 😀

You'd never have to second guess yourself and replay conversations in your head to work out where you messed up because the norm would be for the person you're talking with to be totally honest with you. If they asked 'how are you'. they'd want to know how you were. And if they said you're new dress looked fab you could walk out with confidence knowing they'd tell you if it didn't.

And if they asked you for coffee, you'd know they meant it 😀

Christmas and birthdays would be interesting. We would still get gifts but it would normal to take them to a different room and open them alone.

Yeah, and no annoying bath sets, but stuff we really wanted! Like fiddle toys, tools, tech, shoes and fizzy Haribos 😋

Hairdressers wouldn't expect conversation and you would be asked at the start whether you wanted the head massage or not.

Sensory rooms would be the norm in places with waiting areas such as doctors surgeries and the dentists.

Normal greetings would be either a Japanese style bow or a nod and definitely no hugs and kisses with friends.
Eye contact would not be expected.

Padded. Possibly dyspraxic child. Like the advert for mints with Mr Soft...

And separate towns/areas/shops for sensation seekers and avoiders.

Clear signposting, pricing and directions.

Nobody trying to sell you stuff and then ignoring you when you say "no thanks".

No Lush stores 😀

No Secret Santa

For me, I’d have coffee and book shops open 24/7. They’d be very quiet, have lots of charging ports, and fairy lights instead of those glaring horrible bright ones.

I love fairy lights 🥰

Hotel rooms would have choices of duvets so you could use a weighted one if you liked, or a really thin one if you preferred.

I am 100% behind all of these suggestions (particularly more cats / fairy lights) and fewer labels on the inside of clothes). Grin

I wonder what the restaurants would be like? Im a sensory seeker where food is concerned so basically eat everything.
For those with aversions, they could order the type of food they like without anyone making a comment.

And none of those noisy restaurants with loud music and open clattering kitchens in industrial style. Horrible places.

They'd have low ceilings and wall hangings/furnishings to absorb/damp sound, low-level background music (or - OMG! - even white noise, like gentle rain, or something?), dimmed lighting in communal areas, but brighter at your table/in bathrooms, so that you're not squinting at your menu/food/face.

No tables shoved so tightly together that you're forced to have other people's elbows in food or basically join in with their conversation (absolutely no canteen-style seating is a given).

Actually, lots of booths for one with enough privacy to eat or read a book quietly, but with a decent view of the dining room, so that you can quietly people-watch if the fancy takes you.

You'd also be able to order a glass of milk as an adult without anybody raising their eyebrows or putting a fucking straw in it (I mean - seriously?), and anything with sauce in it that has the potential to get sauce in a food that should not have sauce in it (I'm looking at you, baked beans on a full breakfast) would automatically be served in a separate container.

I live in Sweden and I love Swedish restaurants. They are almost always buffet type arrangements. This means I don't feel pressure to choose. I can take a tiny bit of everything to try and then go back with a clean plate to fill up on the things I liked best. My favourite is the local cheese factory which does a cheese buffet full of cheeses and crackers and chutneys. It's why I'm so fat.
