Have any neurodiverse MN got a NEOM diffuser?

Hi, I’m autistic and love smells (well good ones!). Unfortunately my house has had a lot of damp issues and had to have a bit of work done. I currently have some heavenly L’occitane sleep spray but am considering a Neom diffuser. Questions I have are: is it noisy and annoying? The website says they aren’t silent. And are the essential oil blends they sell nice? I guess what is amazing to one person is awful to another. I am just craving nice smells in my house! Also like that it can be used as a lamp also. Any reviews from fellow ND people greatly appreciated!

I don't have a NEOM diffuser, but I do have another type. It has gentle light changes and it works very well to put out the water vapour with the oil in.

I use eucalyptus if we're feeling stuffed up - or during a viral infection. Lavender, chamomile and lemon are also favourites in our house. I only use one or two drops as I can't get away with strong smells due to having sinusitis.

Ooh I love eucalyptus! I didn’t realise there were other diffusers that did the same thing out there - thanks I’ll have a look.

@Sciencebod if Neom diffuser oils are like the candles then they are delicious - I always hope to find them at reduced prices on my rare trips to TKMaxx - however, they are bloody expensive. They are more naturalistic smells I can tolerate as opposed to, say, perfume-like (Chanel no.5 - ugh) or other heavy scents

I wonder if the Tisserand ones are any good for you as they are much more affordable. The smells are a bit more basic, but good. I used to buy the calming ones for my DSD when she was doing her exams or make my own - I love citrus and neroli with a tiny, wee bit or cedarwood for base notes.

I also buy some of the Aldi diffusers as I can tolerate those well - they are copies of Jo Malone scents, my favourites are the Bay and Blackberry, the Blush peony and the mandarin, lime and basil

Thanks for those suggestions @LilyRed really really helpful! I never know what to do when I mix my own oils so you’ve given me some great idea thank you! Will have a look in Aldi too - wouldn’t have thought theirs would smell that good but that’s awesome, I’ll go sniff them out. Thank you.

I can't stand the smell of diffusers or any kind of air freshener although I tolerate a light Sainsburys one in the downstairs toilet. Dd on the other hand loves them, she can't afford Neom but likes Rituals ones. I bought her an Aldo Lime & Basil and she likes that too. I think its very strong.

I love nice smells and really sensory seek where smells are concerned. Problem is, I have 5 cats and I don't think you can use oils and air fresheners with pets.

I got a diffuser from Amazon about five years ago, £20 and still working. There are loads on there, with lots of reviews, you don't need to spend a lot.

This is a lovely oil. You don't need to use much at all, it's not an overpowering scent like the reed diffusers can be (I can't have them in the house).

It's fine to use a diffuser with pets in the house.

We have Muji, Zen and Esteban diffusers. No ultrasonic diffuser is going to be silent because they agitate the water. It is a soft, very quiet bubbling sound, a bit like very gently blowing through a straw in a glass of water. I don't hear it above normal background noise but you might in a silent room.

DS (ASD/misphonia) loves his Muji diffuser and the noise doesn't bother him. He took it to university to use in his room, so in close quarters IYSWIM? You could use it in a hallway, the scent will spread through the house, so you hear it less. He also has a Muji USB travel diffuser that works without water. I haven't heard it in action but that might be quieter?

Do you have a Muji near you? They always have them working on display so you could hear how loud they are.
