Help needed with sourcing traditional Medieval Music please...

Ok... I admit - I'm pretty old and worldly wise yet not even 2 months ago my thread title would be inconceivable :S

My lovely DS, with a smattering of every conceivable neurological issue just stopped and was instantly comforted at a re-enactment "jamboree" that we happened across by two medieval musicians playing a harp and a lute. The traditional tune they were playing was so gentle and lovely, he was transfixed. I bought him one of their CDs as he is up for brain surgery very soon and I realise he is going to need something he finds very soothing.

I asked for an instrumental CD which was the same calming sort of stuff and we got a CD of their own version of medieval music, which is very relaxing (and certainly excellent in terms of composure and musicianship) but doesn't somehow capture the pure simplicity of the two instruments.

Does anyone know where I can find a CD of traditional medieval music - not the dancing stuff with percussion as it needs to be mega- relaxing.

Thank you

like this which you can buy from itunes?

I'm listening to that, Ivy, and it is beautiful (and I like hard rock music!) but here are too many areas of that music where it is a bit up-tempo/upbeat compared to the stuff we heard. Chances are my son is in a lot of head pain and the simplicity and quietness of the music he heard was exactly what I need. Short of buying a team of two lute/harp players I don't know what I am looking for!

Thank you though

How about this? Not every track may be gentle - maybe you could filter those out.

This Might be easier if you lose the medieval idea and go for traditional, as most medieval CDs will have changes of tempo and dance music somewhere in the line up.

Or this?
