Big Chill is ok. The first year I went the toilets were truly awful but they have worked to improve that and now there are more plus they are cleaned more regulary. They also have some hot showers which are good but there are queues... Not so many "shops" like at Glastonbury so make sure you get your supplies in advance.

I think you have to get there fairly early to get a spot in family camping as last year we couldn't get in, but we did arrive on the Friday. There seem to be quite a few kids things going on.

Just looked again at Camp Bestival and the line up is much better than I recall - or perhaps they have released some new acts!

Reconsidering. Like the idea of a Yurtel, shame they are so bloody expensive, I just hate camping though!

ewe come down get pissed with me.

HaventSleptForAYear · 26/04/2009 22:00

Have been doing some searching and come up with the Secret Garden festival which is v. near my parents and fits with the dates we will be in England staying with them.

Anyone any experience of it with or sans kids?

I haven't heard of a single band but that's the case for most of the festival sites I've looked at!

Ewe · 26/04/2009 22:05

DP has been to Secret Garden festival and it's full of trendy young shoreditch types (which you may well be one of) so not particulalry family focussed.

Oh yes Five! I am good at getting pissed Will def let you know if we do come down. DP is liking the line up a lot - he is a HUGE Erol Alkan fan!

HaventSleptForAYear · 26/04/2009 22:24

Not sure what one of those is Ewe so I doubt I'm one!

We could go to The Secret Garden without the kids though because it's so near my mum's.

I have a feeling we would feel a bit self-conscious there though.

We're going, with Ds1 (10- severely autistic), ds2 (7) and ds3 (4). We are going to buy a big bell tent.

saintlydamemrsturnip · 27/04/2009 09:58

oh that's to camp bestival, not the secret garden.

Well we went camping last year and ds1 refused to stay at the tent for long enough to even have a cup of tea (except at bed time) so dh was pounding the country lanes with him ALL DAY whilst I was back at the tent looking after the other 2 and making tea/lunch etc. So I figured we may as well try a festival where there would be something to see whilst walking round and round the site, and no need to cook as there'll be plenty of food to buy.

DH is dreading it. Although he is relieved I didn't insist on Glastonbury

ruddynorah · 27/04/2009 10:13

oh it looks fantastic. but i'd need one of those gorgeous yurts or the little shed things witha proper bed in..and for that price i can have a fortnight's holiday abroad..so not sure..

HaventSleptForAYear · 27/04/2009 14:08

Go on NFQ, you know you want to! Meet you there and you can be our trendy Shoreditch guide (have now looked it up on the map and located it as nr Islington, so that would be N. London trendy would it?)
