Childs Guitar Help

my 6yo has expressed an interest in guitar/lessons.
i listen to music, thats as far as it goes.
would like to know, good starter guitars and a possible tutor? am near Croydon (lovely, lovely Croydon)
is there a better thread to post on?

DH is a teacher amongst other things. He says you need a half size, perhaps a 3/4 size (but make sure you don't get a 3/4 with a full size neck, it'll be too long). He can't advise you as to makes really, as they're all pretty crap (his words).

WRT teachers, can the school not help? I know of one in Kingston, but haven't been there for a few years, so don't know whether he's still teaching. He'd usually take older children and adults, anyway.

only a toy but may help if your DC is 'faddy' like mine...?!

It does state it doesn't hold a tune and is only a toy but its an idea for DC to get a 'feel' of the guitar.

Thank your lucky stars its not drumming.....

Music teacher recently told me that Asda child's guitar at £16 is v good.

Sorry LastOrders, but if the guitar won't hold a tune then it will be more off-putting than anything. Those toys are fine for 3 yo but unless a kid is cloth-eared and really can't tell, then an instrument that it always out of tune will really upset them.
