So did any actual Killers fans get tickets for their radio 1 gig?

Just curious, having had no luck after trying repeatedly for over an hour and now seeing people already selling the tickets on for huge profit....just would be nice to know that some fans paid standard rate to see them.

Will go and lie down now to calm down and unclench my jaw!!

Bastards

Do you mean the one at the Albert Hall?

I went down and queued outside the box office from 7am, only a couple of people in front of me. Managed to get two tickets, despite loads of touts turning up half an hour before they went on sale and pushing their way to the front.

I felt absolutely murderous at the time, it was so bloody unfair to the poor kids further back. They should have made everyone in the queue name 10 Killers songs, that would have stumped them!

Standing tickets already going for £200 each, I see.
It's criminal.

Yep that's the one-I agree about the naming songs thing-the touts are a bunch of arseholes.

Well done for getting two tickets, you definitely deserve them,I don't live in London so queueing there not an option.

The phone lines weren't answering, the websites crashed-I was trying all of them solidly for one and a half hours before I admited defeat.

I will wait until they tour next and hope I have more chance of getting tickets then-unless the touts get hold of all those tickets too-I mean, charging at least £200 EACH for tickets that cost £35 each makes me so

It took a while for me to get into Sam's Town after having Hot Fuss but I love it now, think that Human is also a grower for me,but I hope there's still some guitars on their new album!

I've never seen them live, but hope to one day,I love their music so much.

Please don't shoot me - I work in the box office at the Royal Albert Hall & just want to say in our defence that we haaaaaaaaate touts too! unfortunately we have no laws on our side to get rid. The only things we can do is limit the amount of tickets per person (hence the 2 ticket rule) We also send tickets out as late as poss to try & avoid them being sold on. We would much, much rather genuine fans got tickets. I love the idea of naming songs & infact did this once to a terrified young lad who had been given cash by a tout to buy 6 Cliff Richard tickets. I said he could only have them if he could sing two verses of a Cliff Richard song & not Summer Holiday. He looked totally horrified & wasn't sure what to say. Unfortunately it's not a rule I was able to enforce & I HAD to sell him the seats but I got a bit of sport out of him. Unfortunately the touts have been in this business a loooooong time & know all the tricks & traps. We do try our best though! I promise x

The problem wasn't with the staff, it was partly the layout of the box office with no notice or sign to show where the queue should begin, and the fact that the Killers tickets went on sale at midday, but the box office was open for other ticket sales beforehand.

I've queued at another venue (can't remember where now) with the same potential problems, but when it became clear that there were huge numbers of people gathering, the box office staff walked down the queue handing out numbered raffle style tickets and took names which meant no-one could push in later on. They also knew roughly how many tickets they had for sale , so were able to advise people at a certain point in the queue that there was no point in them waiting, as they would be unlucky.

Anyway - I went and it was BRILLIANT.

I'd just like to say a big thanks to the teenager ( yes!) who found my friend's accidently dropped ticket outside and stood and waited until he saw a frantic person racing around with their eyes on the floor and handed it back, despite being offered £100 for it. Well done the mum who brought up this lovely honest lad!

Tillyscoutsmum · 10/11/2008 10:27
