where can i get a cushion thing for dds violin

to go under the chin rest? to stop it rubbing on her neck?

does anyone know what i mean? i was going to use a bathsponge and a rubber band

you can get a fancy padded chinrest that clips on, from a music shop. Or, fold up a large hanky/ scarf into a pad and put on shoulder/ neck before positioning violin.

Actually a sponge is alot more comfortable and easy to use imo. How old is dd? A padded duster does the job too. Good luck

DD uses a kitchen sponge and an elastic band provided by violin teacher.

I'll do it for minimum wage.

My mum made me one from some sponge covered in material when I was young.

DS1 had one from the music shop years ago, and no longer plays the violin.

When he comes in, I'll ask him to rummage about and see if he's still got it if you like?

Someone might as well get some use out of it.

(Disclaimer - it may have been consigned to the Room of Doom cupboard, so don't hold out too much hope! )

A sponge and elastic band is fine! Otherwise, go to a music shop and they will try different ones out - different rests can suit different people. Ds1 has one that clips on now, but he managed without one, or with a sponge for about a year.

sponge and rubber band best bet for a 5yo - don't shell out too much cash as she'll need a different one in a year or less

NP, DS1 has found his rest.
It's a red plastic one, with black cushion, and is adjustable.
It's marked as being Violin 1/4, 1/2, which I assume means it's specially for smaller violins.
Anyway, DS1 is happy to pass it on to your DD, so just CAT me if you're interested.

Just found a picture - it looks similar to Model - DAVR1/4
