What ones do you remember as being absolute corkers?

Please dont say Katrina and The Waves or Nena as I shall have to leave the thread.

Thank you

The 1st single I took to the school disco was 'Hey Mickey' by Toni somebody - I still know all the words now, but I was in the Toyah fan club so no hope for me!
I also remembeer the Bangles with great fondness.

Bette Davis Eyes - Kim Carnes?? (not sure if that is the right name)

Break Out - Swing Out Sister (I idolised the singer, wanted to look just like her)

I'm Your Baby Tonight - Whitney Houston

solidgoldbrass · 19/08/2008 17:36

I actually always had a soft spot for this.
And this is a horribly annoyingly overlong remix of a song I adored at the time.

Oh and Sally Oldfield is gorgeous.
I am now dredging Youtube for other favourites.

solidgoldbrass · 19/08/2008 17:38

Ooooh I am so happy I have found Cruella De Ville who I absolutely ADORED in the mid-80s

anorak · 19/08/2008 17:40

Any Pretenders song with the great voice of Chrissie Hynde and fab Honeyman-Scott guitar.

Fleetwood Mac songs especially when sung by Stevie Nicks.

Will You by Hazel O'Connor.

Stop by Sam Brown.

Oooh, Hazel O'Connor! Anyone else remember the film? Such rubbish but so glorious when I was 15...

Tatties · 19/08/2008 18:22

Tatties · 19/08/2008 18:35

ooo! ooo! ooo!

propaganda - duel

strawberry switchblade - since yesterday

altered images - happy birthday

tracy ullman - they don't know

pale saints - kinky love

this mortal coil - song to the siren

cocteau twins - pearly dew drops drop

the pointer sisters - automatic

this is fun!

RaggedRobin · 19/08/2008 21:57

och, my links are rubbish.

squiffy · 20/08/2008 13:47

I am so sad that I still play my breaking glass album - and I still think it's good.

And Dear Prudence still a classic

And who was the backing singer on Heavan 17/'temptation'?

anorak · 25/08/2008 00:04

I've just been listening to the Bangles greatest hits - so good

And what about Heather Small with M People? She has a fabulous voice.

anorak · 25/08/2008 00:06

Oh yes and Annabella Lwin with Bow Wow Wow. Remember C30 C60 C90 Go?

wessexgirl · 25/08/2008 00:08

'Breaking Glass'...god, I actually loved that film.

And why, WHY, isn't this on yet?

Kids in America

elkiedee · 28/08/2008 22:51

Someone's already mentioned Kirsty MacColl, and I've managed to acquire CDs of quite a few of the others, or compilations that have the songs on.
