Haven't bought an album since CDs - how do I do it now?

I'd quite like to buy the new Suede album but I have no idea of the best way!

Do I download it somehow to my phone? Laptop? Where from? I usually listen to CDs or use Bandcamp but I can't find them on Bandcamp and nowhere local sells CDs any more.

I'm old and have no idea what I'm doing in this brave new world 😂

Just to add, I'd like to financially support the artist as much as possible too.

Just download spotify - every artist ever is on there.

You could always order the cd off HMV.

From your phone you could download the Spotify app and listen for free but with adverts. Or pay a subscription and listen without ads. Both options means access to a mega library of music.

The CD is available online though eBay but I’ve not checked the links to authenticate

Order the cd directly from the band’s website? they have exclusive special edition, t shirt package etc too

My teen likes to buy CDs of albums they like - its becoming a thing to own a physical copy again. They also buy vinyl but not as much as it's expensive. HMV is a good place to look if you can't buy it direct from the bands own website or through their social media.

That is a great idea thank you. I don't know why I didn't think of it. I used to get them from the supermarket but they don't stick them any more!

I've heard Spotify just doesn't make any money for the artist which I think is just so wrong. Plus I want to own the music so I don't lose it if the platform loses it for any reason.

Thank you so for the suggestions.

Yep, please don't use Spotify, it rips of artists massively. Apple Music is slightly better, as is Tidal. Bandcamp is excellent but it's mostly smaller less well known artists. Best is to buy the physical media (CD or vinyl) from an independent record shop. Even tape is making a come back now as more and more people, especially young people want to own the music they buy, rather than simply renting it - which is what you do on Spotify, Apple Music etc. With Bandcamp, you can actually download MP3s/FLACs after buying an album so it is a different, and more artist-friendly model.

Thanks @Pharazon interesting stuff.

I bought it from the artist website and am as we speak enjoying the music, and I'll be buying more music direct from source in future.

It's an important industry facing multiple threats, we must help look after it.
