Playlists and access to music

Which is the best music app to get in your opinion? Do people really pay £10.99 a month for Apple Music? I'm not the best with technology. We have just had a house refurb and have people coming over this weekend. I'd like to put some music/playlists together. What's the best way of doing this? Also do people share playlists? I'd love one for running

I’ve only ever used Spotify and I love it. There is lots on the BBC Sounds app too if you don’t want to sign up to a subscription service.

Following as need to make a playlist for labour

I do use Apple but mainly because I see it as an investment in exercise. Rather than the gym membership, or expensive classes, I can stand running three times a week in the rain and sleet and cold and heat, if I can play whatever I like, whenever I like, without ads.

There are a thousand running playlists. I've been obsessed enough to match BPM with my cadence. But now I just listen to music I like! Mood is everything.

Spotify - we have premium for family.

So dh dc and myself all have our own accounts, can access all music snd download so we can listen off line to downloaded music and also stream music out snf about.

As the account owner I get access to audio books too, so perfect for me.

I.love it and it is brilliant for dc, long car drives, travelling to school, background music while studying etc. It would be the last subscription i would cancel.

Spotify here with a family subscription so everyone has their own lists.
Just under £20/month.
It's a lot when you think about it but zero headache. You can also upload your own playlists from iTunes - or used to be able to do that, haven't done it in a very long time.

Spotify is a Swedish company - I would go with them just not to give more monthly sums to an American silicon valley company.

I would like to be streaming through my Alexa. Is that possible?

Yes my Spotify is linked up to my Alexa. I can use voice control or my phone to play. That’s for the kids room though, I have a different Bluetooth speaker for elsewhere

I use Spotify but I also like classical music and iplayer is good for that, though I don’t know how to make a playlist with it.

I LOVE Spotify! You can make your own plsylists, choose from their huge selection based on genre, decade, mood or occasion (i.e there is a workout section with running playlists) or you can type a few words and the ai will make a playlist for you. Once you've listened a bit, you'll also get suggestions based on your listening - its great!

We have premium family membership so each of us has our own separate account but you can also collaborate - so for example DS and I have a shared playlist for when we drive to his sports activities, so we have music we both like on there.

Yes we have Apple Music on the family subscription. Find it useful to find new music and listen to things I wouldn't necessarily buy.

Still buy CDs to support artists, mainly at festivals and gigs, but then also add them on Apple Music to listen to.

Lillimus · 22/12/2024 12:37

I use Apple music and sometimes listen to playlists on Youtube or miraclassic.com

I'd quite like the money to go to the actual artists, but that doesn't seem to be thing any more. I won't touch Spotify with a barge pole until they start paying people properly.
I heard David Badiel interviewed recently and he said when Three Lions was re-released for the last World Cup it had something like 14 million streams and he was paid about a grand. How are up and coming bands supposed to make a living?
