Hi everyone I'm new here so take it easy on me, I'm a single dad of 2 and I am desperate to find 3 tickets to see Taylor swift at Wembley in August and don't quite understand the whole process with codes, offers, invitations etc and I all I can find is single tickets in excess of £800 each, so that is definitely a no go, you all know it's not nice to keep saying no to your kids and there seems to alot of no answers at the minute but that's a rant for another day, so any help, advice would be most appreciated.

Hello, Taylor Swift isnt performing in August. She performed this weekend just gone. No future tours have been announced. Shes performing the weekend coming in Dublin but tickets are very expensive and hard to come by. Sorry that isn't the news you were hoping for.

I have tickets for August so that's not right! But I think the time for getting tickets at a reasonable price has long passed unfortunately

TheaBrandt · 24/06/2024 09:18

She is performing in August ! Three nights at Wembley as we have tickets as do lots of our friends. We all got our tickets when they were released though.

Kev77 · 24/06/2024 09:20

She is back at Wembley for a few days in August.

Erm, she absolutely is. She's doing five nights at Wembley in August.

OP, you can keep looking for tickets - some do come available even on the day on the legitimate sites (AXS, Ticketmaster). However, you will probably pay through the nose for them, so either make your peace with that now or tell your kids it isn't happening. Being a parent means having to tell your kids no sometimes, and lots of people straight can't afford to go to Eras.

She is also performing at Wembley in August ...

Unfortunately the main ticket sales were nearly a year ago (which is where the codes, invitations etc thing came in). Your only chance now is to get a resold ticket - which will be stupidly expensive, as you have found out. Your best hope is that someone you know (or a friend of a friend) might have tickets they no longer want and sell them on for a non stupid price.

Nope she's back in Wembley in August.

She's doing five nights at Wembley in August. The best you can hope for is to sign up for alerts through reputable resale sites and hope that something comes up. If it does you need to be ready and grab them immediately because other people will also be responding to alerts. As shown on the photo nothing available at all as things stand.

Your best bet is looking on Ticketmaster and AXS for legitimate resale tickets, which will be very expensive.

If you don't have a code (these have all been issued / people on waitlists already) then your best bet is a legitimate resale. Don't be tempted by stubhub etc, they're risky and not cheap!

What can you afford to spend?

minipie · 24/06/2024 09:30

She is performing in August

It’s sold out

You needed a code to buy tickets, codes were issued to people who’d pre registered months and months ago (last year). Even then, not everyone got a code and not everyone with a code got tickets, they sold out in a flash

There are tickets for resale on Viagogo Stubhub etc but these are silly prices and also may be a scam

Your best bet now for sensibly priced tickets (and unlikely to be a scam) is on Twickets which resells at face value only. Very few come up and they sell very quickly but you can keep checking.

minipie · 24/06/2024 09:30

You can’t get legit resale tickets on Ticketmaster a) unless you have a code and b) until resale is permitted which is about a week before the event I believe

Kev77 · 24/06/2024 09:34

Thank you all for your quick responses, sometimes you just want to do that 1 special thing that is so memorable that will be a lasting memory for your children, we have a anniversary coming up of their mums passing and just wanted to mark it with a special gift to them, they wasn't mass fans of Taylor when the tickets were first released so missed the boat on that one, but hey you never know sometimes good things do happen to good people.

Good luck with getting tickets. I think it's worth it. In my house we say about big concerts, in a year's time you won't remember what something cost, only how much you enjoyed it. I massively regret not going to see Kate Bush because it was the price of a city break.

I have to say I was horrified when I found out what my husband had agreed to pay for TS. However when I calmed down I realised it was similar to something like a school ski trip. She has been looking forward to it all year and yesterday was just amazing. It will give her memories to last a lifetime.

pizzaHeart · 24/06/2024 09:52

My view might be controversial but it is very much depends on age of your children, do they really such big fans and are there any associated costs. There are a lot of things you can do together which might be on a long run be more memorable and more meaningful to your family. I’m not saying that seeing Taylor Swift is not , it’s absolutely great opportunity but in your situation now ( when the tickets are so expensive) it might be better to do something else.

Yes, I'd agree with this. From the way you're talking about them I'm guessing your children are tweens/younger teens rather than older teens? And not long term fans? The Taylor Swift concert is amazing but it's very full on and going to Wembley for a large concert can be exhausting.I think there are other more memorable things you could spend your money on.
At that age, your DC will also not necessarily appreciate the cost/value of the concert.

My DD (who is 18) went last night; she said it was amazing, but it was a long day; she queued for well over an hour to get on the tube on the way back and didn't get home until 1am (we less than an hour out of London on a fast train). However, she paid for her own ticket from money she'd earned in her PT job (£80 as she bought in the original ticket sale) and was clear that she didn't want to go over a certain price for tickets. She also steered clear of merch as she thought it was overpriced and there are nicer Taylor Swift things on sale more generally.

I suppose the point I am making is that IMO (and even my long time Swifty daughter's opinion) is that it's good - but not worth spending any amount of money on.

Kev77 · 24/06/2024 10:31

Pizza heart yes it is controversial what you say but your opinion is yours, what I've learned is we have to take every opportunity we can to do what's right for us and our loved ones and what makes us happy yes we have the rest of our lives to make memories but you never know what is around the corner so we live for the here and now and we as parents will move heaven and earth to see our children happy even if it is lining the pockets of millionaires but don't we do that every day of our lives anyway? If we have the opportunity to do something but don't then we live with regret and believe me I know the feeling far to well.

The cheapest and easiest way to get Eras Tour tickets was last July when they first went on sale, and it was very competitive then.

Method 1 - those who had preordered Midnights got access to an exclusive pre-sale with the option to buy up 4 tickets at any of her UK & Ireland dates.

Method 2 - you had to register interest in advance for the cities you would wish to see her in. You may get selected and given a code which granted you access to buy up to 4 tickets at a specific city. Many people did not got codes at all, within my group we registered 21 times across various cities and only got 2 codes. These codes (AFAIK) are still live and can be used to buy further tickets which are put on for sale. Getting a code in no way meant you were getting tickets, it was a battle.

Method 3 - official resale (via TM or AXS), a code is not needed and there are price caps in place so the best option if you don't have a code. Guarantee you are not being scammed or hugely overcharged, they are like gold dust and get snapped up quickly as demand for the show is so high. It's luck of checking at the right time.

Method 4 - unofficial resale (viagogo, stub hub...) these are much more risky with scammers operating on them, and the price inflation is massive. Many people have bought tickets on there and had no issues, but you can't be sure you would not be unlucky.

As a side note, I agree with PP, while it isn't inappropriate for children, it is not designed with them in mind. The show is long, there is plenty of swearing, quite a sexy dance, and things that will go over their heads. The kids around me were worn out and sitting down, some even curled up sleeping, by 1 hour left, and given everyone is standing and dancing the whole show when seated they wouldn't have been able to see anything. A little girl by me also found one particular song a little frightening, another kid had to leave after 10 minutes as it was too loud and intense for her.

DreadPirateRobots · 24/06/2024 10:47

The scene after the show is also hard work for younger people. Nearly 90,000 people (plus those who have been listening from outside the stadium) are all trying to leave at once and it takes a long time to get onto public transport away from the arena. I was also home after 1am despite the show finishing before 11 and only living 4 or 5 miles, as the crow flies, from Wembley.

Zinzinner · 24/06/2024 11:14

In the gentlest way possible, I think you are perhaps building this up into something huge that would create lifelong memories but you also risk some underwhelment. It's a LONG day. A LONG show. A long time to get home. I was offered free tickets at work and said no, even as a somewhat TS fan because I could not deal with the crowds and waiting about, and I am an adult. It would be worse for kids.
I would spend money on something else, make memories another way. You could to go Disneyland Paris for the same price!

Nextblooday · 24/06/2024 14:42

I absolutely appreciate wanting to take them. I took my daughter (7) to see Harry styles last year and she loved it, but she was exhausted by the end of it and we could have happily finished up a half hour before the end. Harry was only on stage for an hour and a half.
I went to Eras on Friday this past weekend and while it was amazing, my partner and I were saying how pleased we were we didn’t bring the kids. They would have loved it but the show beginning to end was over 4 hours. I was fuelled by my love of taylor swift and a few glasses of champagne and even I was thinking ‘oh god there’s still 3-4 more eras to come…’ it’s a lot and adding how expensive resales are you could take them to a festival for a whole weekend for less money.
