Looking for advice

Hey musical people,
I'm
Looking for a bit of advice.

I'm a brass player and and pion aplauer of ear only, which means
I'm a completely lazy cow whose piano teacher after three lessons said, "I know you can play the melody but that doesn't count." So in a fit of pique at 5, because I couldn't just play the melody I didn't go back, I wish I had the vocabulary then to say to my parents that I rally wanted to learn but thought that the tune was it!

I went on to play brass, trombone and later baritone, thought I wanted to be the tune makes so bought a trumpet and only then discovered that my wonderful teacher was correct, I have a wide
Mouth (lol).
So I have a trumpet in the house I can't play, my son has a sax that I had taught myself to play (minor tunes such as the scales and twinkle twinkle). But I genuinely would like to learn the guitar, if the previous hasn't convinced you, I'll tell you, I'm a lazy cow, my previous shoes I just want the melody (hence why I'm a sprano when being an alto would be easier) so is it possible me that I could teach use of guitar?

Jesus god! Please forgive me! The wine taken in order to give confidence to post backfired! Forgive my spelling, grammatical and paragraph errors

The actual question was, could I teach myself guitar?
but if anyone reads this I'll be surprised that the response won't be "learn to type/speak"

Loving your late-night wine-fueled music posts Grin

In your place, I would take a couple of guitar lessons to learn the basics & technique. Then you can continue learning in your own since you already have a good base in music.

By the way, re singing - I sing Soprano, too. I was not tested when I started with our choir and they placed me with the Alti because that is what was needed at the time. I had very little volume and in one song when we repeatedly sang the lower B flat, I hurt myself. Then I was finally tested and moved to Soprano which I find a lot easier. I ca. also sing at quite a high volume now.

What I'm trying to say is that if you find Alto easier to sing, that is what you should probably be singing. You can easily end up damaging your vocal cords if you insist on singing in the Soprano range

Thank you both for replying. I have read my posts back and am sooooo embarrassed!! Thanks for the advice from both of you. I'm having a look at some you tube beginner lessons, my dad is going to let me borrow one of his guitars to try it out.
