Best Piano book for learner

My daughter (20) has asked for a keyboard for Christmas because she wants to learn to play the piano.
What is the best book to buy her?
She can read treble clef fairly well (has played an instrument since age 7) but can't confidently read bass clef (still has to count the spaces).
Any recommendations welcome! 🎹

Keyboard and piano are very different. If she wants to learn to play the keyboard she could use 'The Complete Keyboard Player' series. Or for piano I like the Piano Adventures series (there is an accelerated version for adults). But really it's best to find a good teacher and have proper lessons - the teacher will have a preferred method book for her to use.

I agree about having a think about piano vs keyboard style. Despite learning piano for years as a child, I didn't realize the teaching approaches were so different until someone pointed it out to me on mumsnet.

Piano style you read every note from the written music and have treble and bass clef. If she wants to play classical music this is the way to go.

Keyboard style is based around chords and tends to lead to pop, blues, boogie-woogie, rock and jazz. The written music has just the treble clef with chord names above, no bass clef. You make up the accompaniment to the melody yourself, based on the chords. Of course, you can play this style on piano too, but if you buy a 'piano' book or go to a piano teacher it's most likely they will teach in the classical style.

Personally I think it's great to learn both approaches, but it depends what kind of music she wants to play really.

Sorry for not actually answering your question...I think the books suggested above are good!
