Musical instruments - get what you pay for?

DD10 has been using my flute (30 year old Yamaha). It's been serviced a few times and the music shop has said it's fine to learn on. In those days, they were made to last, apparently.

After 3 years, it's pretty much had it. I'm looking to get her a new one. She's not desperately musical but enjoys it, plays in 2 bands and loves the social side.

We can afford a new one but if I can get a good deal, that would, of course, be better. People are recommending Aldi flutes but surely they would be better suited to complete beginners?

I'd like to get her a new one as she's had secondhand all these years. Any recommendations of brands that will do the job and make her sound nice?!

We have the Yamaha YFL-212 new. Not cheap but certainly not the most expensive. DS chose it and likes it very much. It was between this and the Pearl 505E, as recommended by his teacher.
