Ravel's Pavane for a Dead Princess - not overtly 'emotional' as it's quite restrained, but very wistful and a bit melancholic. Love the French horn!

Debussy: Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune

Vaughan Williams: The lark ascending

Ives: The unanswered question

Not for everyone, but certainly emotional in a very dark, forbidding way. Probably best with the lights on Shock
Penderecki: Polymorphia

Somewhat different is Hindemith, particularly the

by Janáček never fails to move me, with such contrasts.

Kalinnikov's is beautiful, particularly that wonderful 2nd movement.

Kodály's is another.

Martinů may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I love the . Also the symphonies are wonderful, my favourites being , and

Suk wrote some gorgeous stuff, like , and somewhat livelier, the .

Lots of Purcell is wonderful, particularly the

Sibelius wrote loads of good stuff. Some of the smaller ones I like are , , and

From Walton I give you the achingly beautiful .

From Britten, the sublime .

And for a lively ending, the by Ginastera!
