Best place/way to sell a brand new musical instrument?

Does anyone have any ideas on how best to sell a brand new musical instrument?

It's a Primavera 200 size 4/4 violin. Brand new. It was bought 5 months ago for £140 from Foulds and was a complete impulse buy! It hasn't even been played with. It comes with a case, bow and a rosin. I already tried a music shop in the city that bought second hand musical instruments but they only specialise in drums and guitars, grr! They suggested a cash converters type place but I have absolutely no experience of using one of those at all!!

Any ideas?! :)

ebay? That's where I got DDs clarinet but do have a realistic expextation of what it's worth and set a reserve

I sold my flute on e-bay, and got more than I paid for it! The run up to christmas is a good time to sell instruments.

Unfortunately, you won't get much back for it., between £20 and £40.
You see them on ebay, or you could try a music shop that sells violins.
cash converters you take what price they offer which isn't usually very much as they want to make a profit too.
Sorry, no other ideas I'm afraid. Unless it's a particular make instruments don't tend to keep any value.
We bought a similar one to yours from a friend for £20 last year.

Yeah I wasn't expecting to get as much back for it at all! It was DH who bought it, thinking he was going to take up lessons!!! lol I could try on eBay, but not start it as a 99p auction! Thanks for the tip about Christmas slicedfinger!

Thanks to everyone else for your suggestions. :)

Approach your local music service, and see if any teachers have pupils who need to move up from 3/4 to full size. You should get £80 - £90 back for it that way.

You could also advertise on supermarket boards, and some music shops have a board for sale items too.
Good luck.
