Any recommendations for flute pieces to play, around grade 5?

I'm returning after a 30-year break (!) and I just can't think of what to play. Something that comes with cd accompaniment would be good. Smile

Faure's Pavane is lovely.

Oooh, yes! You see I've forgotten everything! I wonder whether there's a flutey forum somewhere, I'll bet there is.

Is it just Classical music you want - or are you 'broad minded' and happy to try other genres?

'Guest Spot' do some great books with CD for flute - all different types of music too. Maybe a bit easy for grade 5 but great fun!

I'm just trying to remember what sorts of pieces I played at grade 5 standard....

GrimbleGrog - I'll offer some suggestions if you answer my earlier query.

An excellent teacher and composer for many woodwind instruments, is James Rae. Any of his books should be good; our DS played his saxophone books, and they often included unusual time-signatures, pieces in 10, 11, 13 etc. These time-signatures break down into combinations of 2, 3, or 4 beats, so aren't as daunting as they seem at first.

This is rated Grade 8, but should be fun to have a go at:

There should be something from this selection:

Ferguson, I'm so sorry, how very rude of me! I'm hardly ever on here nowadays, thanks so much for your replies.

I'm happy to try anything, I've a mind to try folksy stuff actually.

I know nothing about music, so even my identification of flute as the instrument on A-side could be rubbish, BUT: google has deserted me so I'm up to anybody who is old and heard stuff 76-ish. Al Green. No, his brother, Jesse. Not Nice and Slow but the B-side, Stay In Bed.
Could anyone direct me to a purchasable, or even better, free download?
Maybe I've unremembered this. In which case, mumblemuttergrump.

The B side appears to have been an instrumental

You were correct about the flute sounds, though.

His other hit was Flip.

Wow, thanks, ouryve! You're faster than Google! And I have a seriously faulty memory!

Tambourin. Absolute flute classic!
