How do I get rid of old baby grand piano?

Hi, we're trying to clear my MIL house and she has a Hansen Baby Grand Piano which we need to get rid of. I put it on ebay, but the listing has been removed because it has ivory keys It does need retuning, but I think its okay other than that, although I have no idea as I'm unfortunately not musical. Does anyone know how else we could find a home for it?

Ask a local piano teacher if they know someone who wants it. Or a church or a school?

We've got a piano and we got given it for free but paid for removal - it's a specialist job & cost £100.

Another asking where you are! Am sure loads of people would collect it from you for free/pay for a specialist courier.

Hi, thanks for your quick replies, the piano is in Clitheroe in Lancashire, its quite large so I guess it would need someone with a van / specialist removal? I've never used Facebook for selling, so will go and have a look.

That's the trouble with pianos, they tend to be given away for nothing because transporting them is so difficult - and once it has been moved it will need retuning.

There was an amazing programme on Radio 4 last week about piano makers - apparently at the turn of the last century there were over 100 in North London alone. A dying art, sadly.

Anyway that bit of trivia doesn't help you - whereabouts in the country are you OP?

Yes always get specialist removers or it'll get damaged. It'll need tuning once it's moved and then again a couple of months later once it's settled.

Such a lovely thing to have though. We used to have one but it went due to lack of space. Just got an upright now.

is it usable as an instrument still? I suspect that a lot of baby grands are used as furniture only for that "classy look" and are never opened but used to display silver framed photos.... maybe try antique shops?

Hi, thank you for all your help, I've made a few phone calls and found someone who has seen the piano and thinks its not worth the maintenance so have booked him to remove. Such a shame but glad its another tick on my list x
