Bathing a cornet?

Do I really have to give it a bath?
DD (7) is having lessons and all the info says about giving it a bath. I'm a bit nervous about this so thought I would check here.

We bathed DS2's french horn for the first time recently. I was nervous too -- like giving a newborn his first bath.

Put a towel on the base of the bath for protection against knocks. Use a bit of washing-up liquid in warm water. Soak for a while then use the thing called a 'snake' to wiggle the dirt out. Leave to dry somewhere safe. Then at the end of the procedings you should discopver that it sounds exactly the same as it did before.Hmm

Eleison
Thanks for that - although I don't have the snake thing - will have to investigate that further.

It's like a bottle brush, but very long and bendy.

I have to say, we had DS's for a couple of years before we bathed it, and I'm not 100% sure the bath did it much good. It didn't do it any harm though.

DS has great fun with his brass lessons. Hope your DD is enjoying hers.

You also need to oil the valves occasionally! (with valve oil)
