Been a very bad day, if you could be so good as to suggest songs so that I might wallow and wail appropriately that would be a help.

TIA

(hello btw)

Why does it always rain on me?

Can't stand the song but u can totally bastardise the lyrics as you wail along to it

Joolyjoolyjoo · 16/10/2010 23:13

Depends if you want to feel better or worse! "Everybody Hurts" always makes me feel like I've had a big cuddle, but there are many Cure songs that make me feel like howling for hours!

Probably terribly old hat now but my best wallows have been to George Michael, think it's the Older album, the one that has 2 discs and you just put the 'for the heart' disc on and blart your face off.

Joolyjoolyjoo · 16/10/2010 23:18

There is one in particular which begins "For how much longer can I howl into this wind?..." and stays in same vein. Hide the razor blades!

Yes to The Cure - 10:15 On A Saturday Night is a great one.

Or The Mission - Like A Hurricane.

Or Eloise.

Happier Times and Sloe Gin by Joe Bonamassa
Dice by Finlay Quaye.
Arc of curve by fish

But by the time you read this message your mood will probably improved but these songs are worth a listen

Leonard Cohen always works for me.

agree \link{\this}

southeastastra · 23/10/2010 20:35

was quite shocked to read he was only 3 years younger than my dad

winnybella · 23/10/2010 20:43

My mum went to see him a few weeks ago, supposedly he's still amazing.

OP, sorry, am too lazy to do links at the mo, but Waiting for a Miracle, Famous Blue Raincoat, Partisan, Dress Rehersal Rag are all good for weeping. Different from Closing tim I'm not crazy about it-more mellow.

southeastastra · 23/10/2010 20:52

i think he must definitely appeal to women once they reach 40

winnybella · 23/10/2010 21:09

I grew up listening to his songs as my mum loved him. I'm only 31 but have always liked him- that voice

winnybella · 23/10/2010 21:15

Oh, and also the guy I was madly in love with in high school, his father was a v.well known singer and was friends with LC and translated his songs into Polish and performed them (in English, thankfully Grin).

He was on tour here in Paris a couple of times recently but I always found out too late. Would love to go to see him, as I don't think he'll be touring for much longer.

Morrisey "There is a light that never goes out" has some rather fine depressive lyrics.

If you're feeling angry "Go Your Own Way" by Fleetwood Mac can be strangely effective.

And for general wallowing you can't really beat the sheer cheesy sentimentality of "Mandy" by Barry Manilow.
