I don't mean in the sense of wanting to batter the radio with a hammer (that bloody 'Thong Song'), I'm thinking a more 'It speaks to my soul' type reaction. I always well up at 'Bridge Over Troubled Water'.

sharbie · 09/09/2010 21:46

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 09/09/2010 21:46

chasing cars by snow patrol. reminds me of wehen ds was born. so beautiful, i just wanted to lie and stare at him all day.

hendo77 · 09/09/2010 21:46

Oh dear, I think you might all laugh at me now. My dd is 9 months old and we've recently started listening to music for her in the car occaisionally. I put the CD on with one of my childhood favourites 'Puff the Magic Dragon' and then cried my eyes out as I had no idea how sad the lyrics were.... Blush

MrsDinky · 09/09/2010 21:47

"Nothing compares to you" by Sinead O'Connor sets me off.

Also "Caravan of Love" by the Housemartins. Both remind me of times when I was dumped

"Bright Eyes" by Art Garfunkel. Or Simon and Garfunkel, whoever. The rabbits, the headlights, oh no, here I go.

TimothyTigerTuppennyTail · 09/09/2010 21:47

LALALALALALALALALALALALALALLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

colditz · 09/09/2010 21:48

I was first shown this at school and for the first time, the people who actually fought in that war were real to me.

MrsDinky · 09/09/2010 21:48

Oh and one more, "Love of My Life" by Queen, remember it being played over and over when Freddie Mercury died. I'm showing my age on this thread aren't I?

TimothyTigerTuppennyTail · 09/09/2010 21:49

MrsDinky

Bright Eyes plays when the ghost rabbit comes to take to Fiver to Hazel 'cause he's not really dead just badly injured and he needs Fiver's help so he gets better and..and..an....

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!

Hassled · 09/09/2010 21:49

Daydream Believer by The Monkees. I can remember my mother singing it - she died when I was quite young. I don't break down and sob; it's a happy emotion sort of song.

bluefinger · 09/09/2010 21:50

Queen, Time of our lives, My Dad died when I was 15 and I remember him loving this song.

Athlete, wires.

That somewhere over the rainbow version, think it was a lady called Eva something. This was played at my Mum's funeral.

Lots of random shitty dance/pop songs. They remind me so much of when I was younger/nice times.

Blu · 09/09/2010 21:50

Grandma's Hands - Bill Withers
and
Anthem for a New Nation - Abdullah Ibrahim and Carlos Ward
and
The Neville Brothers Yellow Moon album

TheOldestCat · 09/09/2010 21:51

Oh me too, MrsDinky, me too.

Sob!

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 09/09/2010 21:51

Without you, Nielsen

At 17 - Janis Ian

Bright eyes sends me looking for the nearest sick bucket.

StealthPolarBear · 09/09/2010 21:51

oh yes Caracan of love - again that's a male, unaccompanied voice...spotting a trend.
MrsDinky, are you thinking of Days of our lives? (or whatever it;s called?)
I associate that with FM's death too

Ponders · 09/09/2010 21:51

When Bridge Over Troubled Water came out in 1970 I was seeing a musician, & I remember him bringing the LP into the flat he shared & playing it for the first time & everybody there being completely dumbstruck by it.

It still has the same visceral effect on me every time I hear it

StealthPolarBear · 09/09/2010 21:52

Eva Cassidy sang over the rainbow

StealthPolarBear · 09/09/2010 21:52

can't believbe we've got this far and no one has mentioned Terry Jacks
Or is that just too far?

dahu · 09/09/2010 21:53

you tube the beatles "here there and everywhere" and listen to whole thing, lovely.

Lizzylou · 09/09/2010 21:56

Beautiful - James Blunt (DS2
Amazing - George Michael (DS1)

Both were played in delivery suite on a crappy radio during my labours with DS's.

Minnie Riperton - Loving you. Reminds me of my Nan, it was her favourite song.

MrsDinky · 09/09/2010 21:56

No, definitely Love of my Life, although Days of our Lives is pretty sad too, quite similar. Love of my Life is from A Night at the Opera, they kept showing a live version on TV when Freddie died.

TanteAC · 09/09/2010 21:57

Alanis Morisette 'Simple Together' - shite song, technically, but really raw!

Meglet · 09/09/2010 21:58

Because I burst into tears at the Sony bouncy ball advert a couple of days before I was pg with DS, I knew something was up.

I usually like noisy music, this one is quite out of character for me.
