PIP Renewal - when?

My PIP award is due to run out end of December this year and I’m already stressing! Does anybody know when the renewal form gets sent out or do I need to nudge them nearer the time? Do they act fairly quickly on this once sent back?

I’m concerned if it gets refused and I have to appeal how I will cope financially in that time, but I guess will cross that bridge when I come to it but want to be as prepared as possible.

I hate, hate this whole PIP thing and the anxiety it induces - really good to have this level of stress when you’re already coping with an illness.

I got mine about 10 months before, I submitted mine in September not expecting them to get back any time soon (was over a year last time from submitting evidence to getting outcome).
They will keep paying until outcome.
Definitely a worry. Mine went down last time even though I'd got worse but I was too scared to reapply because I was worried they would stop it.

Firstly you need to know if the claim (fixed term or ongoing) will be reviewed or if it is an award with a fixed term with no review.

For the former, you will receive a review form any time within the year beforehand. Often it is around 7-10 months before. Sometimes a more, sometimes a bit less. Some people’s reviews are done very quickly. Others take a long time and their claim is extended in the meantime.

For the latter, you won’t receive a review form. You will need to contact PIP for a form like a new claim. You can do this up to 6 months before the end date. DWP often write to remind you at 3 months before the end date.

Apologies for not responding sooner and thanks for the information @2x4greenbrick and @Hellofromthesideyoudontwanttobeon.

I am presuming that my award is fixed term as all my letter says is that I have been awarded up until December, so I will contact them in the summer for an new form and start the process all over again!

If you think it is a fixed term award, I would read your letter again to see if it is fixed term with a review or fixed term without a review.
