PIP and ESA

I claim PIP and ESA, I just wondered if I can copy what I have written in previous applications to send off.
I took photos of what I wrote at the time as advised by a friend in the know. I will also add to the notes because I have new evidence and details.
What do you think? Thanks

Sorry you've not had any responses, it's annoying that this board is specifically for things like this but is quiet! Maybe Chat would be better?

Is it a PIP renewal? I don't know about ESA but for a PIP renewal I would give as much info and details as possible of any changes and as much supporting evidence as you can. If you have a fluctuating condition I don't like the advice "write everything as though it's your worst day" as I don't think it's helpful, the criteria for tasks is can you do things safely, to an acceptable standard, repeatedly and in a reasonable time, so I would refer to this as much as possible and give examples.

Please ignore if this is not relevant but if you are under various clinics/consultants ask to receive follow up letters of all visits/telephone calls as they are useful for supporting evidence and for you to refer back to. Basically for a PIP renewal, despite what DWP say, I would definitely not just say "refer to previous application" etc, I would (I know it's time consuming and depressing) basically write your original answers again and add as much information as you can if it's relevant, or taken place since your original award eg any operations..

Also if you are asked to attend am assessment, if it's not practical ask for a telephone appointment instead. I was called for an assessment 2.5 hrs travel away, I absolutely couldn't do that anyway, but I know if I had attended it would have been used to say I was "able to xxxx". I actually believe this is a deliberate tactic.

I'm afraid I don't know about ESA but there are more knowledgable posters like @babyroods (I hope you don't mind being linked! Please tell me if so) and Money Matters or chat topics may be helpful.

Good luck, it's a fucking nightmare I know!

SpindleWick · 14/05/2022 14:14

As pp, asked,@Rahrahrahrahannoyed are these renewals?

MayorDusty · 14/05/2022 14:19

If they are renewals according to benefits and work website it's ok to just write No change, unless there are changes.

It is so annoying paragraphs aren't working on the app!!! Sorry my post is a big wall of text, I did paragraph and format it properly!!

Yarnasaurus · 14/05/2022 14:33

I would be tempted to add in the text from previous application clearly marked as such, and then add either 'there has been no change', 'this has changed in such and such way' or 'I have new evidence to support this'.

Don't assume they will read your old application, you need to spell everything out and make it all very obvious. Assume they know nothing!

Good luck.

I've got my PIP renewal forms right now and as far as I understand you just write no change if things have not changed.

I really dislike the thought of doing this since it gives no real info.

I've got a copy of my medical records (obtained free from GP) for the past two years which will show all of my appointments and consultant letters and also a letter from a therapist I see privately.

A long way of saying yes, you can say the same things you have said in the past if they are the same now.

On my third application for pip I still was unable to complete my questionnaire on time so I reapplied for my first claim. they told me I already had an open claim which I said was impossible. they said seeing as I have attempted to apply for it a few times previously unsuccessfully they would bypass the form and go straight for my assessment which was done over the phone. my conditions are all officially diagnosed and on my medical records so I was awarded pip however I do not know what rate I am on as I have not been given an award certificate or received any written communication. I have however received my backdated payment and I'm due to receive my first payment next week but again I do not have my award certificate and I'm unaware of what rate I have been awarded. I have tried to contact them but it is impossible to get anyone to answer and I have searched for hours online but this has also proven impossible.
I'm trying to apply for my first disabled persons Freedom pass but without an entitlement certificate I cannot do this I'm also desperate to apply for motability scooter as I'm seriously limited without shelling out for taxis. Anyone else been in my shoes? If so some advice please.
A billion thanks in advance
