Travelling abroad with twins and disabilities - advice?

I'm hoping to take my toddler twins (2) abroad for the first time this year but am stressing about the logistics of moving through the airport.

I use assistance services in airports as due to the nature of my disabilities, I don't have the mobility to manage otherwise.

My partner has traditionally accompanied me through the process but now that we'll be travelling with children, I wasn't sure what the protocol would be and whether we'd be allowed to travel as a family via the usual assistance channels.

The twins would probably be difficult to manage for my partner to go through the airport with them on his own and meet me on the plane, but is that potentially the only option?

Has anyone else attempted a flight in similar circumstances? How did it work?

I am afraid my advice having taken two year old twins on an aeroplane even without additional complicating factors is that no holiday on earth is worth the experience.

My twins are 6 now, I have multiple disabilities which are largely 'invisible'. We are lucky enough to have relatives who live abroad so we only need to cover flights really. So my twins and my DS 11 have been going regularly abroad since they were tiny babies. I am a single parent now, but when the children were younger I did travel with my DH. We still used the airport assistance, you can actually book to be transported through the airport, the airport I use offer a wee electric buggy, driven by airport staff. There is also usually a family security desk which people with disabilities can also use, less busy, more assistance etc. I traveled with a fold away double buggy and was able to take it right to the gate and then staff would put it in the hold, and bring it out the hold for us getting off the plane.

On the plane, my recommendation would be give them devices and download some cartoons and easy games to play. Plenty of snacks etc.

I have to say travelling with small children is a bit hit or miss, some journeys they have been good as gold, others they have been ants in pantsy.

On the whole the checking in, security and waiting at the gate is the most stressful bit for me.

But it would never stop me taking them, it's a small bit of the journey. If travelling with a DP, this should in theory make things a lot easier.
