Dyspraxia

I have dyspraxia and every time I apply for a job I have to admit to it. I occasionally spill my food or drink and have a higher than average tendency to trip over my own feet (at least once or twice a week). I do however have a higher than average iq as dyspraxia affects the physical not the mental. I find it utterly frustrating now going for an interview and admitting to as my husband and I call it my little problem and seeing a look pass between the interviewers. A look that says I will not be offered the job. How would others deal with this as it’s really wearing me down but if I query it they would come up with 101 other reasons why I didn’t get it.

@Rhodora

Sorry you've not had any replies so far, have you seen these options that you have about disclosure. It's not essential to disclose any disability at interview.

I don't know if you'd use that tone or terminology in an interview or at another time with an employer, but it may help you to learn how to describe your disability in a more confident and positive way.

There are several youtube how-to videos that you may find useful.

Sorry for the broken link above, this works for me

Thank you for the links they are definitely interesting. I lost my job during the pandemic after 15 years and have been applying for other jobs ever since. I have now taken a zero hours contract with my previous employer so if people ask I can say look I’m doing something. Fingers crossed that something else comes along soon though as I dislike not knowing one week to the next what I’m working.

Hi I have never disclosed dyspraxia at interview. I really don't understand why you need to and I am also clumsy , cannof ride a bike and spill drinks.
