With the new board thought I’d start this. I have spastic CP right hemiparesis. Also sight issues. I have ASD and need to rest a lot. I’ve never really thought but maybe part is physical as well, just general life takes a lot (and I don’t even have children)

So hello Smile

I haven't but my son has and I would love to be able to ask adults with cp questions as and when things arise if that would be ok?

Samcro · 23/01/2022 18:42

My adult dd has cp. she is severely affected.

DS (13) Has dyskinetic CP. He is severely affected but tires very easily. I know the people with cerebral palsy use far more energy than NT people, so need to rest more and pace themselves.

I guess good diet and good sleep would help.

Hi @Powerchaircrazy can I ask how long you have had this? I think I may have this am waiting to see podiatrist Thursday , I have pvl and had no other symptoms but over the eeekend I've lost balance and my feet have started to turn inward and my leg was shaking like I was having a fit it was really scary and this is what I've ended up reading about could you tell me more about how it affects you please if you don't mind thanks x

Powerchaircrazy · 28/04/2023 16:06

Hi, I've had it since birth. I was born 10 weeks premature so it was most likely caused by oxygen deprivation during or just after birth.
It's not something that you can develop later in life, although a brain injury can cause similar neurological issues x

everandneverending · 30/04/2023 15:53

Oh wow! Do you have pvl also? I think this is what's causing the troubles from the nerve damage but my feet going sideways now and my leg and arm have started like having a fit and I've been reading about it all being linked and just wondering what it could be and pvl is closely related to my brain injury , can I ask how cp affects your movements please if you don't mind sharing?

Hi all,

I know this is an ancient thread but I have left hemiplegia. I am 41, married with two kids. I do wonder if there's also something ADHD-ish going on but it wasn't a thing when I was younger so everything focused on the physical side.
