I'm currently awaiting assessment and have been thinking about the things I do.
I'm sat here constantly rubbing my foot against the sofa in a back and forth motion. I used to think this was only when I'm tired but it's not, it's all the time.
As a child I used to twitch my nose like a rabbit and had to force myself to give it up but I still do it.
I fiddle with things constantly. During stressful phone calls for example I will repeatedly remove the rubber from my pencil by twisting it then twist it back in over and over.
My feet are never still. If I can't rub my foot against something I'll be wriggling my toes.

There are probably others but I can't think of them.

Foot and hand rubbing, skin picking, hair twiddling mainly. Bit of nose twitching and I also flap a bit when excited.
As a kid I was a pencil chewer and hair sucker.

Foot tapping. Twiddling my hair on one side to the extent I’ve needed to change my parting to cover it.
Recently posted a hair thread on here only to be told I had lovely locks. If only they knew!!!

I constantly fidget, pick at dead skin on my lips, scratch my scalp etc, but the main one is rubbing the edge of particular fabrics between my thumb and fingers (it’s quite hard to describe!) cotton is best, like the edge of a sheet, or a fold of duvet cover. I used to do it while I was sucking my thumb when I was little, grew out of that but not the rubbing. Mostly only do it now when I’m lying in bed.

I have a dd who I swear is autistic but she was told that she wasn't at the pre-assessment because she has friends Hmmand she cannot sit without scratching at her head. I do it too but not to the extent she does. I constantly pick at dry skin too as does dd2 who at 12 still has her Muslin cloth and rubs it between her thumb and finger. She's the one with obsessive interests but both struggle with friendships and alienate people with their way of communicating. They have outbursts akin to toddlers despite being 12 and 14. Dd1 most likely has ADD too.
I hadn't thought about their habits potentially being stims.

Pulling at my hair mainly. Thankfully it’s thick so no thinning and I usually snap the hair off in the middle than pulling the root out. I do it quite a lot.

Thinkidbetterleave · 27/05/2021 20:48

Oh and chewing pens. Even if it’s someone else’s pen. I can’t help myself. When I was a kid, I used to chew the feet of my barbie dolls which sounds pretty weird when written down.

GalOopNorth · 27/05/2021 21:10

I chew the inside of my mouth, clench my teeth, rock back and forth when I am going to sleep.

Advic3Pl3as3 · 28/05/2021 14:05

I used to bite/gnaw on my knuckles until they bled but I have managed to mostly replace that with fiddling with objects. I chew on my lip, bite my nails, pick at things, twitch my nose etc. I have one of those fidget cubes and some other bits that are sometimes helpful. My toes are always moving too. And I blink. A lot.

Advic3Pl3as3 · 28/05/2021 14:06

Oh and chewing on stuff, plastic mainly. Or wires.

PinkBuffalo · 29/05/2021 17:08

I have about a million stims it is crazy. Actually got a lot worse in lockdown as no where for my energy to go!
I rock a lot, flap my Hands when I happy or upset, vocal stimulation a lot, I feel soft things (have my teddies on the sofa so I can feel them) and do this thing where I rub my fingers into my hands it is hard to describe.
I apparently jump when I am very happy, I can bite myself or hit my head when I upset and straying into meltdown territory
There probably a lot more! But think these are the main ones that people say make me “look autistic”

Tiddlywinkly · 30/05/2021 21:01

I listen to music. The same one-five songs on repeat. The selection changes. I listen to them until they longer give me the same 'high'.

BonnyandPoppy · 30/05/2021 21:05

My adult autistic daughter flaps her hands and jumps up and down a lot

I’m nt but I do this. I’ve always felt self-conscious about it and I’ve actually done it for so long now that I get tension in my hand (sounds even weirder now) and it aches sometimes but I can’t stop. Apologies for jumping on the thread.
