Anyone with Brain Injury?

Just wondering if anyone else here has had a brain injury. I had mine well over a year ago now and just thought I would be recovered by now? Still have check ups but naively thought I would have made more progress by now.

I am a lot better than I was but thought now that I am into over a year of it, I would be almost fully recovered. Even though I've been told parts of the damage are permanent, just expected to be better by now?

How long before you started to feel fully better, if at all? Did you ever get to go fully back to the live you had or person you were? Thinking maybe this is just how it is now, in fairness it could be so much worse! Just wondering about other people experience.

Hi. I had a TBI 6 years ago and I still suffer from neurofatigue and a few other issues. I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m about as ok as I’m going to be now! What’s really helped me is getting in touch with my local Headway group and meeting other people in the same boat as they all get it completely. Coming to terms with a change in yourself is the hardest thing. You’re welcome to pm me if you want a chat :)

I had what I consider to be (compared to how bad it could have been!) a minor-moderate head injury about 5 years ago. It took me over a year to feel 'better', but I still have lasting effects sometimes to do with coordination, and vertigo at the top of stairs etc.

In what ways don't you feel 'better' or 'back to normal' yet?

What struck me the most in your post was that you said Even though I've been told parts of the damage are permanent, just expected to be better by now?

I would really recommend looking at the Headway website and finding some good counselling for you. It could be that you need some help with processing what happened to you.

A friend had a TBI and we almost had to go through a kind of bereavement as she won’t be the same so she refers to herself as Version 2.0 and her expectations of how life will be have adjusted to fit with her new self.
