Ear plugs or ear defenders

I’m aspergers and my main sensory distress is sound.

I’m thinking of buying something to tone things down - mainly in the supermarket - but I don’t know what to buy.

Can anybody recommend anything? I’d rather have earplugs than ear defenders.

It's a case of trial and error, what feels comfy and what stops the irritating noises for you, have a look on different websites to see what may feel most comfy and how much protection they offer in different situations.
e.g. www.earplugshop.com/

Did you know that Morrision's are going to have a quiet hour for shopping, every Saturday 9-10am.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5968593/Morrisons-introduce-quiet-hour-customers-autism.html
"A weekly ‘quiet hour’ will be introduced at a supermarket chain to help customers with autism.
Lights will be dimmed, beeping machines will be hushed and trolley movements will be reduced from 9am to 10am every Saturday at Morrisons.
Music and tannoy announcements will be stopped and the volume will be turned down on self-service checkouts to help those who suffer from sensory overload caused by loud noises."

Don't know when it's going to start, maybe ask your local branch?

Looks like it's already up and running

I could get to a Morrison’s I guess, but my nearest one is about 12 miles away. I usually have to go to Tesco which is very noisy. They play shit music over loudspeakers. Sainsbury’s don’t play music, but we don’t live near one.

Why do people have to have loud music everywhere? I couldn’t go into three shops on a small high street whilst on holiday either because they had those stinking candles just inside. One was burning an incense stick.

I wish shops were like they used to be Sad

Look for a supplier of Vibes Earplugs, they sound like just what you need. They reduce decibel levels but you can still hear clearly. My nephew with autism & sound sensitivity says they are wonderful. They are small and you can hardly see them when they are in. Sorry I don't have a link, but you'll find them if you do a search.

Thanks. I think I’ve seen the vibes ones on amazon.
