Shock Shock Shock all this technology!

I feel like I've been sick since the dark ages! Confused

I have to go off and lie down and recover. Oh. I already am Grin

No I don't want Alexa in my bedroom thanks. Bit dubious about one cups. Have pretty bad noise sensitivity now plus scary memories of steam train- type teasmade back in the 90's next to my bed!!!!

I have a memory foam too! Def get one! Will ask OT about bed thingy to sit me up. When I can get hold of them.

Inspirational people with disabilities climbing mountains? Pah. I'll just make do with getting to the loo for now thanks Wink

Good to chat chums. Less alone to connect with others. Thank you for your honesty Akire. Hope we're helping others too. Have got so much advice by reading MN when too weak to post.

One cup sort machines don’t make
Noise. It’s just runs hot water with pressure through a pod of dried milk and coffee so takes about 30-60sec then it’s done. Nothing to switch on before or time to brew.

I’m tempted by Alecia but use communication aid so need to try one out to see if it accepts the voice as a voice!

gottaslowdown · 25/05/2018 17:53

Smile See if your machine will talk to their machine Akire Wink
That would be intensely frustrating for you if their communication was hit & miss!!! Shock

So many people have no idea do they how easy their lives are. I hope the internet has helped with misconceptions & ignorance a bit more.

Hey. In the past, we might have all met each other when we were slung in the old Asylum?!! Grin That's where everyone who was 'different' seemed to end up. See. Life could be worse Smile

I tried speech to text on something, but talking is actually really tiring. I think typing is actually the lesser of two evils Grin

Actually I prefer writing, but my scrawling & lists of notes aren't that clear to follow. It's got easier since I bought a lightweight pen that sits in my hand properly & needs little pressure to use. But golly the ink cartridges run out quickly Confused

Oops. That a bit long? Always forget how to do short links. Right, winding down now. Have a lovely bank holiday weekend. Fingers crossed Smile

Grin Tomorrow's World Grin.

Crikey there's a long lost memory Smile

Akire · 25/05/2018 19:46

It’s always way isn’t it one magic fix for one disability is worse for others. Like all bumps by crossing great if you can’t see, really bumpy in wheelchair!

You think be way to use alexia by texting can’t be that hard! Oh yes tomorrow’s world theres a blast from the past. Sometimes random people tell me ,oh the new driverless ars be great for “someone like you”. Er no not really. Unless you are going BUY me one!

I think Mn with SN is our own board? I know for ages was just if your child had SN or you were carer. Though I have never said I have Special needs ever! But fits in with other names.

Hello. I am a wheelchair user and am expecting my first baby. I'm very exact but there a few things I'm worried about. Mainly that I'm not that strong so am worry about carrying the baby, lifting in and out of the car etc. Has anyone been through it and picked up any tips and tricks or bits of equipment they could share?

DanceMagicDance1 · 04/11/2019 17:29

Just to add detail. I am very independent. I have no problem getting myself about. I'm sure there are ways and means of working it out I am just looking for any wisdom that already exists!!!

Worrysaboutalot · 19/10/2020 13:25

Bump to see if anyone from this thread is still around :)

DanceMagicDance (great name) I was able bodied when my kids were babies, so don't have any relevant advice. Except slings are great, maybe that would be a safe way to carry your baby around.
