'Tools' - Adult diagnosis

I am wondering if somebody could help me.

I have booked my ASD assessment and one of the tools they'll be using is the ADOS-2, but I also have the option of choosing the DISCO as well as.

What 'tools' were used to diagnose you? (and please tell me your experiences of them - both male & female)

I was thinking that polter Dd3 was dx'ed using the DISCO but there was loads of questions about when she was little! Even though she was only 8 at the time Dp and I still struggled to answer a few of tje questions.

I have seen ADOS being done on an older girl and I am not convinced it will be right for an adult female!

The ADI is a useful tool but again lots of it is questions from childhood!

Do you have someone who could go with you, a parent or sibling maybe?

Ineedmorepatience · 19/02/2016 16:03

ADI-R

Thank you. I'm in my 30's and only have a sibling local but not sure they'll be able to remember much from childhood. I remember lots from childhood but not from being a baby obviously. Although, my dx daughter is just like me as a child apparently.

I'm not really sure what the best way is. This person is used to dx'ing girls/women and was very knowledgeable (and mentioned nice guidelines etc) about the differences, whereas some of the people I spoke to obviously weren't (and didn't say they'd be using any tools in particular).

Actually, just remembered that another one used the AAA as part of the process. I've still not googled it but has anyone heard of it?

What kind of things did they ask PolterGoose?

It's Adult Aspergers Assessment - or something like that.

Ok, so it's what I was hoping you'd say, thank you.

Apparently there will be somebody else there too (i'm presuming for a multi-disciplinary effect).

Gosh, I hope I've chose the right people.
